Read Between the Wines - 50 Shades

We had our monthly book club meeting last night and the book we were discussing was 50 Shades of Grey.  Wow.  That's all I'm going to say on the subject.  We had a fabulous time (as usual), but we were missing a few.  Plus, we did vote to have a new member - Marissa Chandler!  Welcome, Marissa!

Zoe's Six Year Checkup

Zoe had her six year checkup on June 14, 2012.  I don't know why, but I had been nervous about this appointment for some reason.  Maybe it's because she's just getting older and I still worry all the freakin' time.  Who knows?!?  Anyway, she had a great checkup with Dr. Beveridge who was beyond thrilled with her!  To say that our girl has had a growth spurt would be an understatement.  She has grown almost four inches in a year and she has put on 8 pounds!  Oh. My. Word.  Here are the stats for this year.  Drum roll please......

Height - 47 1/2 inches
Weight - 53 pounds
Eyesight - 20/25 in each eye
Hearing - Normal
Heart Rate/ Blood Pressure - Slow & 90/48

Dr. Beveridge said that her heart rate was slow and great just like an athlete, which was great to hear.  She said that she couldn't be happier with Zoe and was reminiscing about how Zoe didn't come off of breathing treatments for the entire first year of her life.  Plus, she was born prematurely and spent time in the NICU.  All of those factors could have affected her growth dramatically, but they didn't.  Instead, our girl has always been above the bar and for that we are forever grateful.

While we were there, Zoe had her gown on and proceeded to get in Dr. Beveridge's chair and imitate her.  She said, "Hey, this is Dr. Beveridge.  What's wrong with ya?"  It was hysterical and I made Zoe repeat it for her.  I'm so glad our doctor has such a great sense of humor because she laughed and laughed.  Our girl is quite the entertainer!

What Happens When Daddy Makes Zoe Try New Foods

I'm so showing this picture to her future husband!

Meeting Morgan

We haven't seen our friends, The Carters, for three years and we haven't gotten to meet their newest addition, Morgan.  For those of you who don't know, Mark and Chris grew up together and have been close friends ever since.  Chris' wife, Renee, grew up in Sullivan too and was also part of their group.  Anyway, they are getting ready to get transferred to Guam (Chris is a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force) so they are making the rounds to visit everyone before they depart.  I'm so thankful because I absolutely love them.  They are amazing, amazing friends - even from a distance.  Their oldest daughter, Maddie, has gotten so big and is so pretty.  Plus, we got to meet Morgan and she is  Renee and Maddie made all over again.  I didn't get any other pics except for one with Mark playing with Morgan and I love it!

Happy, Happy Birthday, Daddy!

My sweet, sweet hubby turned 41 on June 11th and to say that he doesn't look a day over 30 would be an understatement!  He has aged so gracefully and he's sexier to me now than he ever was - mostly because of the husband and father he has turned out to be.  I've been truly, truly blessed.  Daddy made out like a bandit with a  new gun and new camo!  Oh, and did I mention that he also got a new HVAC unit for his birthday, too?  Um, yeah, that was the price of a small car!  Oh, well!  You can't dwell on it and I'm certainly enjoying the new air conditioning!  We did manage to take him to Cock of the Walk so he could eat his favorite food - catfish!  Let's just say it was "interesting" each time Zoe tried to pronounce the restaurant's name!  Ha!

The Allergist & The Dermatologist

Zoe had her six month checkup with her allergist, Dr. Sanders.  To say that it went well would be an understatement!  He was so pleased with her progress!  He took her off of Flonase (only use when needed), said we could try to take her off of Singulair in July just to see how she does and she only has to get shots now once every three weeks!  That is such a huge blessing!  I prayed for her to have a good appointment and God definitely listened!

Zoe with her "feathers" from Dr. Sanders

I don't know how many of you know this, but our girl has a mole on the back of her head.  I don't like the looks of it and never have since it appeared when she was 3.  I've always had her pediatrician check it out, but I've never felt comfortable with it.  It's not that i don't trust her because I do (she's the best), but I wanted a doctor to look at it where that's their only focus.  I took her to see Dr. Hu at Cumberland Skin and she completely reassured me.  She said moles that looked like this one were normal; however, she would like to keep a check on it once per year to make sure that it's growing "with her" instead of "ahead of her."  I'm thankful that I took her because it has given me peace of mind!  Praise the Lord for good news!

An All-Star in the Making

This was our Zoe girl's first year to play t-ball/softball and she made the All-Star team!  Woo Hoo!  Mark and I are so proud of our girl.  She has come a LONG way since she first started playing!  And guess what?  Her team won the game!  Ha!

Awards Ceremony

Zoe had her last awards ceremony and managed to snag the phonics award.  Are you noticing a trend here?  My girl does very well at reading, spelling, etc.  She loves it and who can blame her?!?  She gets it from her Mommy!  So, our Zoe girl has managed to get an award for each of the nine weeks and we couldn't be more proud of her!  Way to go Zoe!  We love you!

Kindergarten End of Year Celebration

To say that Zoe's school has lots of things that happen at the end of the year would be an understatement!  Holy Cow!  It's insane!  However, I wouldn't change a thing about it and I've loved every minute of it!  I've got to say that I'm having a harder time with this transition than with her transition to Kindergarten.  Although Kindergarten is the new "first grade," somehow this transition just seems so much "bigger" to me.  That may not make much sense to some of you, but that's the only way I know to describe it.  She's my baby and suddenly she's not so small anymore!  Anyway, the Kindergarten had "Donuts with Dad" and an "End of Year Celebration" so I took the day off to spend time with my girl.  Even though I work, I want her to know that she is THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT gift to me and her Daddy.  I know Daddy wanted to stay for the celebration, but his work just isn't as flexible as mine.  It's a good thing I tend to overdue it with the camera, huh?!?

Uncle Poopy & Aunt Patty

We were so excited this year to get to have Uncle Poopy & Aunt Patty come down and visit for Memorial Day weekend.  We hadn't seen then since New Year's Eve on 2010 and that's a long stretch for us to go without seeing them!  We had such a good time getting to introduce them to some of our closest friends, having them celebrate Zoe's birthday with us, hanging out at Mr. Charlie's BBQ, shopping and, of course, eating!  What else are we going to do?!?  Anyway, we loved having them and we can't wait to see them again!  We love you Uncle Poopy & Aunt Patty!
