My Four Month Checkup

Zoe had her four month checkup on September 26, 2006. She weighs a whopping 15 lbs. 13oz. and is 26 in. long. She is measuring in the 95th percentile for both height and weight! Dr. Beveridge was so pleased with Zoe considering she was born early at 36 weeks and spent a little time in the NICU. She is doing wonderfully! Of course, she got four shots and was none too happy about it. It was Daddy's first experience with Zoe getting shots and he didn't like it either! Daddy can't stand for his little angel to cry.....Mommy can't stand it either, but I just look at it like it's for her health and they have to be done. And she certainly didn't feel good after getting those shots! She has run a fever and been real fussy. On top of that, she is still cutting her first tooth. We've had some sleepless nights in our household, but we wouldn't change a thing!

My Teething Bunny

All of you won't believe this, but our little Zoe is getting her first tooth! I thought Daddy was going to cry when he saw it. It's one of her bottom front teeth and it's so cute! I tried to get a picture of it to post; however, it wouldn't turn out on the camera. Instead, I took a picture of Zoe with her teething bunny. She has been gnawing away on that thing since we gave it to her.

Our Changing Zoe

I never paid much attention to the saying "time flies," but it really does. This Monday Zoe will be 4 months old! I can't believe it! She has REALLY changed and her little personality comes out more and more every day. She is cooing, talking, squealing, screaming, laughing, smiling and doing so many other things. She is rolling over from her stomach to her back now and is really starting to like staying on her belly when we have "tummy time." She can really hold herself up well and just talks the whole time while she's doing it. She kicks her legs while on her tummy and scoots herself all the way across her blanket. Before you know it, she has reached the carpet. Mark is convinced she'll crawl soon because of what she does..........Mommy thinks she still has a way to go! Anyway, it gets harder and harder to leave her at day care every day. I know she's in GREAT hands (I love my day care), but I almost feel like I'm dropping my child off to be raised by someone else. I really try not to feel guilty about it because it takes two to make it in this world anymore.......it's just hard sometimes. Today when I walked in she was in the swing just talking and smiling. When she saw me she really started to smile. I love those moments and have learned to cherish them. I've changed so much.....when she's awake, I literally don't do anything else except play with Zoe. I figure the rest can be done when she's sleeping. I miss enough all day long and I refuse to miss any time with her while we're at home. Okay....enough whining. I've attached pics of Zoe playing with Mommy. She is just adorable! Enjoy!

My Checkup

On Monday, September 11, 2006, Zoe had her checkup with her ear, nose and throat specialist, Dr. Werkhaven, at Vanderbilt. For those of you who don't know, Zoe was born with a cyst on her tongue. Basically, when cells are dividing and making a baby sometimes "left over" cells clump together and make what amounts to a "skin tag." They commonly appear on the tongue, gums, feet and hands. Anyway, when Zoe was born it was pretty big; however, it didn't affect her eating and she has continued to do well. We first saw Dr. Werkhaven on July 6, 2006 and the cyst had shrunk a considerable amount by the time we had that appointment. When we had this past appointment, we learned that Zoe's cyst had shrunk even more....to the point that we don't even notice it anymore. Dr. Werkhaven was thrilled with Zoe's cyst and we have decided on a "wait and see" approach. Ideally, it would be great if it would just fall off, which could possibly happen. More than likely, we will have to have it cut off at Vanderbilt. Mark and I have decided that we are in no hurry to have it cut off. Medically, there isn't a reason to. It is more of a cosmetic issue now. It doesn't bother us, it doesn't bother her and we've decided to wait until after her first birthday if we have to get it cut off. We are in no hurry to have her put under general anesthesia. It just isn't necessary at this point. Anyway, just wanted to update everyone. Since I'm at work, I don't have any pictures to post......I'll take care of that later!

Cute as a Flower

An attorney I work with, Wendy Longmire, and her daughter, Madison, bought Zoe this towel! It's too cute and, of course, I had to take a picture of her using it!

Prayin' in My Sleep

Over the weekend we put Zoe down for her nap and when we went in to check on her, it looked like she was prayin' in her sleep. Of course, I just had to take a picture! Too cute!

Tummy Time

Every day we try to make sure that Zoe spends a few minutes on her tummy. I say a few minutes because she doesn't necessarily like it. Once she's had enough, she definitely will let you know it. I was actually able to grab the camera and take a few pics of her during tummy time tonight. They are too cute not to share!

We had Zoe's three month pics made before I went back to work and Mark and I were able to pick those up today! They're AWESOME and I wanted to share a few of them with everyone. Enjoy!
