Mother's Day

Me & My Zoe Girl Before Church

I have to say that apart from the first Mother's Day that I got to actually celebrate because I had become a mother, this Mother's Day was the best I have ever had.  My husband and my daughter absolutely spoiled me!  I woke up on Saturday morning to coffee brewing and my husband cleaning my entire house for me while I saw on my butt drinking it.  Now, that's not unusual (the cleaning part) because my husband cleans all the time and, yes, I'm a lucky woman.  Zoe and I left for a hair appointment and when Zoe had finished getting her trim, Daddy came to get her and they went shopping.  I came home to beautiful flowers and wonderful cookies from the Publix Bakery.  (Note to all....Publix has the best bakery of any grocery store chain.)  I went and soaked in a hot bath (something I absolutely love to do with a good book) and then Zoe & Mark took me to my favorite Mexican restaurant to eat, which is El Rey Azteca.  The next morning when I woke up, I had several gifts awaiting me, which included cards, the latest Sookie Stackhouse novel, my favorite candy (Sour Patch Kids) and Zoe had made me a keychain at school that I absolutely LOVE.  The best gift?  I wanted a necklace from the Vintage Pearl.  That necklace is absolutely precious and I will cherish it forever.  Check out my loot:

After church, I actually got to go see the movie that I have been waiting to see, which is Something Borrowed.  And I got to go see it with this girl:

My Shelley girl....the best girlfriend I could ever ask for!  And just so you won't wonder, she actually wore that pin, which was a gift from her girls!  Funny, huh?

After the movie I got home and Mark had fixed me dinner, which is my favorite dinner that Mark makes for me....meatloaf with fried potatoes and onions!  Yum!  That may not appeal to some of you, but my husband makes the best meatloaf I've ever put in my mouth!  I'd say that I had a pretty great Mother's Day, wouldn't you?  I just thank God for my blessings every day!  Thank you Mark and Zoe for making me feel so special!  I love you both so much and you're my life!

Happy Birthday, McKendree!

Every year to celebrate McKendree, the director puts together a parade and cookie party for the school!  It's so much fun and I'm glad she does it, especially for the kids!  Some Metro police officers on motorcycle actually come and block off the intersections so we can march around two blocks, which I think is so nice!  I'm sure they have other things they would rather be doing, but they interact wonderfully with the kids, answer their questions, etc.  Zoe's class made signs for the parade and I walked over from work to go with her.  Needless to say, she was very excited.  This year, McKendree had t-shirts made as a fundraiser for the school and, of course, I bought Zoe one.  What's really cool?  The design on the t-shirts was drawn by Bridget Byrd in Zoe's class.  Neat, huh?  This parade was bitter sweet for me because this will be our last one at McKendree.  I can't believe!

A Sign Your Child Notices Aging

Papa's birthday was on May 7th and, naturally, Zoe called to talk to her Papa and wish him a happy birthday.  I was so proud of her too because it's tough to keep her on the phone for more than 30 seconds (she's busy and has things to do you know), but she stayed on there and talked with him and sang happy birthday to him.  We were actually in the car heading to get our hair done and this was the conversation I heard:

Zoe:

"Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday Dear Papa, Happy Birthday to you!"

Papa:

Inaudible since I can't hear it!

Zoe:

"I'm not old, Papa!  I still have brown hair!"

I totally lost it by this point because that was hysterical!  I told Papa that he needed to write that one down because I was sure he hadn't ever been told something like that before....especially on his birthday!  Where does she come up with this stuff?!?  It's a good thing that Papa has such a great sense of humor!  We love you, Papa!

Gobble Gobble....Finally!

To say that Daddy had a hard season hunting turkeys in Tennessee would be an understatement.  He finally got one and both Zoe and I were thrilled for him!  Poor Daddy was so tired that he hung it up before the season was over!  To my knowledge, he has NEVER done that unless he had reached his limit.  I think Daddy was just thankful for the one turkey he managed to harvest!

Zoe was in awe over Daddy's turkey!

Check out that huge turkey with a huge beard!

My handsome hunter!

I'm jealous!  He takes such great pics!

Another awesome pic!

Zoe just wanted to pet the turkey and keep some feathers!

Ready to Go To Disney

Can you say that this child is ready to go to Disney?  The poor thing is so excited that she's been packing this rolling suitcase and pretending to go!  Won't be long Zoe girl!

My Husband is a Super Star

He's probably going to want to shoot me, but I have to brag!  My hubby is featured on the website of the place I sent him to for his turkey hunt in San Angelo, Texas.  Check him out:

Way to go, Mark!  And only Mark will be the one to get this.....

Hair Practice

I've had to try practicing with Zoe's hair in preparation for her recital.

Too cute, huh?

And we've had to switch and try sponge rollers.
My girl didn't like the thought that something hot might burn her head!

Ballet Recital Costume

I seriously can't stinkin' wait!

Self Portraits

Each month Zoe has to draw a "self portrait" for the bulletin board at school.  The idea behind it is to see how far she has actually come throught the year.  I literally can't wait for them to come up each month, but I've gotten a little far behind in posting some of them.....

Happy Easter

This Easter was pretty fun and special.  Both Mark and I work for great companies that actually close for Good Friday.  I have to admit that I couldn't stop thinking about God and the sacrifice he made by sending his only son to die on the cross so that all of us could be forgiven for our sins.  As a mom I simply can't fathom it.

We spent the weekend together as a family (when Daddy wasn't turkey hunting that is) and had a wonderful weekend!  Zoe still had dance on Friday since it's so close to recital time and Mommy got to get a facial (it's only the one Daddy & Zoe bought me for my birthday back last September...but who's counting?!?).  I have to admit that I see more facials in my future.  (Note to self...never get a facial when you have to be somewhere later because the hair gets greasy and has to be washed.)  And let's not forget that we also colored Easter eggs!  Daddy spent all day Saturday hunting so Zoe and I went to see Anna & Ashlyn play softball (those girls ROCK)!  Sunday was Easter and we went to church and then had the Riggs over for Easter dinner.  I have to admit that this was by far my FAVORITE Easter EVER!
