Trend

Are you noticing a trend here? Our Zoe girl is growing up FAST and Mark and I can't stop counting our blessings each and every time we look at her. Yes, she's gorgeous, but she's so kind and beautiful on the inside that it melts my heart. This was Zoe dressed casually for church and I thought I was looking at a teenager.....

Kids Club Field Trip to Bicentennial Mall

While Zoe was out on Spring Break, we didn't plan any trips and she had to go to Kids Club. I'm sorry, but we can't afford to go on three to four major vacations per year. We went to Orange Beach this Summer and had a blast and we are planning on going to Disney again in October 2013 so we told Zoe that we couldn't go somewhere on Spring Break. And you know what? She was completely fine with it. Mark and I both agree that we don't want our child to be under the illusion that money grows on trees and that she can have anything and/or do anything she wants to when she wants to. It doesn't work that way in our house - life doesn't work that way. However, Kids Club did take a trip downtown to the Bicentennial Mall here in Nashville so I met Zoe to eat lunch with her. She had a blast!

Zoe's Dizzy Lizzie Lou

We bit the bullet and caved. On what you might ask? We surprised Zoe with a dog as an early Christmas present! Lizzie was born on August 3, 2012 and we picked her up from a breeder in Fairview, Tennessee on September 8, 2012. I researched breeds and compiled a list of dogs that would be hypoallergenic (remember Zoe's asthma and allergies) and ones that would have relatively few health problems. I loved my Prince Charming, but I couldn't take another dog that might end up like him. So, I compiled the list and let Daddy choose the breed. Lizzie is a West Highland White Terrier and she is an absolute doll. Well, other than the barking, the chewing, the constant need to go outside to do her "business," attacking our feet when we walk through the house, etc. You get the picture. Mark and I have a name for Lizzie in our house, but I won't put it out here on this Blog because my parents read it;) Don't get me wrong, we love her and she is very much a part of our family, but she is definitely a handful during this puppy stage. I had forgotten how much work a puppy could be to take care of and let's just say that I'm ready for the puppy stage to be over! Ha! I think you will agree that she is pretty stinking cute......

First Report Card of First Grade

To say that I've dropped the ball on this Blog would be an understatement. I have no excuse except that life has taken over and I'm incredibly busy. I used to think that life would get easier once my child got older and, in a sense, it has gotten easier because Zoe is able to do more for herself. However, I've also found that the older my child gets, the more "involved" she is with extracurricular activities, the more homework she has, etc. So, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. That doesn't mean that I've stopped taking pictures or trying to document our family milestones. You didn't think that would happen, did you?!? Therefore, without further adieu, check out our girl's first report card of first grade. To say that she ROCKED IT would be putting it mildly and I'm one proud Mama! Well, Daddy is pretty proud, too!

Labor Day Weekend

I don't know how I didn't manage to take hardly any pictures while we were gone to see Uncle Poopy and Aunt Patty over Labor Day weekend. I did manage to take some pictures at a local winery we visited for Patty's birthday. Of course, they were with my iPhone, but at least I have some!

Bash & Dash

Zoe's PTO at school decided to have a huge fundraiser this year by having the Bash & Dash. Each student had to get sponsors to see agree to pay money per lap they completed or just get a flat fee donation. The goal was to raise $20,000.00 and they ended up raising around $22,000.00. Do you know how huge that is for the school? The money will go to buy technology for each teacher in the classroom and they totally deserve it. Don't get me started on how I feel about the government and how they always look to cut funding for schools first. It drives me insane! If you have a great community with great schools, it will bring better jobs, people will buy houses in your district, etc. Teachers are completely underpaid for what they do and we should be putting our money in our "future" rather than always looking to cut it. I can think of many other ways where the government wastes money and it's not in the schools. Okay, I digressed there a bit and will get off my soapbox right now.

On another note, I was so glad Zoe's Daddy got to go to the Bash & Dash and spend the day with her. She was beyond excited over it! Here are a few pictures he got before the camera battery ran out.....

I love my iPhone and think it takes awesome pics. Anyway, I always try to capture pics even if I don't have my actual camera with me. I want these on here so when I turn the year into a book, I'll have them!

My buddy Shannon Ivie was sweet enough to take her daughter, London, and some

of her friends out to get mani/pedis and yogurt. How sweet was that? And she

ALWAYS does stuff like this and doesn't think a thing about it.

She is completely selfless in that way and it's one of the qualities

Fall Ball - The Braves

We decided to sign Zoe up for Fall Ball because she loves it so much. Plus, they don't keep score in Fall Ball so they can concentrate on teaching the fundamentals of the game. I love it because I think they could all use the help. Anyway, she's now on the Braves and she has a lot of the same girls on her team from when they played on the Orioles. I can honestly tell you that I love, love, love going to the ball fields and watching my girl play. I love it!
