Her First Envelope Addressed to a Friend....

I took Zoe to Tori's birthday party a few weekends ago at a place in Hendersonville (pics to follow later).  I have to say that this was honestly the first time I told Zoe how to spell a name and she just wrote it without any help from me.  I'm so stinkin' proud of her....

October Self Portrait

As I've explained before, each month Zoe's class will do a self-portrait.  They place the new one on top of the old one so you can look back and see how well your child has progressed.  For the month of October, she did great; however, when her teacher asked her to complete it Zoe explained that she needed to draw something for me first.  So, this is what she drew for me...

I asked Zoe to tell me about it and she said it was a picture of her in my belly.  I'm not quite sure what the little drawing is to the right of "me," but I found his absolutely HYSTERICAL!  Then, Zoe drew her self-portrait for October and this is what she drew.....

I've got to say that her October self-portrait is much better than her September self-portrait.  Plus, my child has become quite detailed!  I asked her what the little dot was in the center of the body and she told me it was her belly button.  I asked her about the "scribble" toward the neck area and I thought she was going to tell me it was a necklace.  Do you think that's what she told me?  NOPE!  She said, "Those are my boobies, Mommy!"  Oh my.....

Daddy's Ariel Drawing

Usually when Zoe wants to draw pictures, Mark is the one who draws with her.  I mean, I'll try, but I'm really horrible at drawing.  I can color with the best of them, but when it comes to drawing something, I can barely manage a stick figure.  On the other hand, Mark can actually draw some stuff pretty well.  He drew Ariel the other day for Zoe and we hung it up on the fridge.  Check it out:

Didn't he do a great job?

A Self-Portrait

Now that Zoe is in the Older Preschool Room at school, she will be doing a self-portrait once per month and it will be posted on the board at school.  The idea behind it is to show you how much she will grown in her artistic interpretation throughout the year.  My girl has drawn herself at home before and it looked nothing like this.  I said, "Zoe, don't you think you forgot to add a few things?"  She said, "Yeah, I forgot my hands, feet, legs, hair....just everything!  I promise I'll draw myself better next time!"

Square Frogs

Zoe has been having small group time and studying frogs at school.  I don't know where she came up with the idea for this drawing, but when I went in to pick her up, this was hanging above her cubby.  Since her class was in the gym, I immediately went out to the my car and snapped a picture with my phohe.  I think it's pretty funny!  The caption says, "These are my square frogs."

Grocering Shopping with Mommy

Zoe is such a big girl and loves to go grocery shopping with me....especially at Kroger!  They have little shopping carts for kids and she thinks she is the biggest thing pushing that cart around the store and helping me shop!  Such a big girl...

A Day at the Zoo

Zoe's school closes four times per year for teacher training.  And they always close at least two consecutive days in the Fall so they can attend a conference of some sort.  Anyway, they were closed this past Thursday and Friday so Mommy decided she would stay home.  I can't begin to tell you how nice it actually was to have four days off!  We met up with Dane Ivie and his mom, Shannon, at the Nashville Zoo to let the kids run off some energy.  While we were there, we ran into their classmate, Jack, and his little, Elle.  It was a McKendree reunion!

Zoe & Dane...My girl wasn't going without her skinny jeans and pink boots on!

Those flamingos are crazy!

More running!  Needless to say, my girl was worn out!

A Shot With No Crying

I can't believe it's already that time of year, but Zoe's pediatrician is already giving out flu shots.  The moment I got the e-mail I called and made an appointment.  Seriously, I think she was the first one on the first day of the flu clinic.  Oh well!  Sounds just like me, doesn't it?  Anyway, the night before I prepped Zoe and told her she was going to get a shot.  She was none too thrilled about it and the next morning when we were getting ready, she started to fret about it.  I said, "Zoe, if you get your shot without crying, I promise I will go and buy you that new Barbie movie that comes out today."  She said, "Barbie and a Fashion Fairytale?"  I said, "I most certainly will.  If you don't cry, whine or fuss, you and Mommy will go to Wal-Mart after work and get the movie."  She said, "I promise I won't cry."  So, when we got there and they called her back, she got up on the that table and when they gave her the shot in her leg she said, "Yes!  Barbie movie here I come!"  Just so you know, it was complete with a fist pump and all!  That little toot!  I was so stinkin' proud of her!  I'm guessing she's probably going to come up with something she wants each time she has to get a shot from now!  Smart girl.....

Rhyming Words

So, my girl has been really rhyming words here lately.  I mean, she takes one word and goes through the letters in the alphabet and when she's done she's so excited and proud of herself.  Of course, some of the words don't make any sense, but she's just so proud of herself.  Anyway, the other day Zoe and I were in her room when she says, "Mommy, listen!  Suck, Duck, Luck, Buck ______ (BLEEP)!  Mommy, I rhymed!"  I promise you that it took all I had to keep a straight face.  I said, "Zoe, that's great.  Why don't you run upstairs and tell Daddy about your rhyming words."  She took off and then I proceeded to lose it.  I didn't want to draw attention to the fact that she'd said a curse word, but I laughed so hard that I had tears streaming down my face.  I'm pretty sure Mark had the same reaction after she told him and ran back down to me.  This is one of those stories you want to be able to look back on and tell your girl about when she's much, much older.  The first thing I did was text my buddy Shelley and tell her about it.  She didn't miss a beat and immediately called me and when I answered she said, "So, what rhymes with witch?"  I was laughing so hard I started crying all over again.  Oh man!  I can always count on Shelley to keep the laughs coming!

Hoola Hoop

This is for you Nana since you are the one who taught our girl how to hoola hoop!

Zoe's First Stab at Photography

Zoe took my camera while we were out of town and proceeded to take pictures during our cookout.  I can't begin to tell you how hard I've laughed at these photos and Mark is probably going to shoot me for including some of them, but they're just too stinkin' funny!  Enjoy....

Labor Day Weekend 2010

I realize I'm very behind in updating this Blog; however, I have a really good excuse!  My computer crashed and I've just now gotten a new one!  Oh how I've missed having a computer!  I've been making a list of blog topics to update once I got a new one.  Anyway, we went to see Mark's family on Labor Day Weekend and had a wonderful time.  We stopped on the way up and stayed with Nana & Papa for a night and then continued on to St. Louis.  We did a little shopping and spent a lot of time with family and friends.  Thanks to Aunt Patty & Uncle Poopy for putting up with us for a few days!
